Our New Old Home in Stovall NC

Built in 1908, this is a great example of a Colonial home. Almost original in every way. Walk in the front door and the hall goes on forever. So do the ceilings. Same thing upstairs. Eight 15 by 15 foot rooms altogether, plus 2 full baths, pantry, porch, deck, kitchen and laundry room.

Four 15 by 15 foot rooms on each floor. Two on right, two on left. All share mutual chimney flues through the middle of the rooms, with unique mantles and old lighting fixtures in each room.

Currently the home is heated and cooled with per-room heaters and AC window units as needed. In the last year living here, we have found that we do NOT need a conventional and super-expensive heating and cooling system in this house, due to its unique room design and air-flow system. Windows, fans, and per-room heating units are all we need. Our electric bill last month was barely over $100 bucks.

Virtually all the rooms surrounding the lower and upper halls inter-connect so that we can shut off the hall ways and let the "suites" be heated and cooled as needed. It is a phenomenal design that still transcends modern principles.

Five bedrooms, dining, living and den/library. Or three bedrooms and tons of extra space for living. Full bath on each floor, with a kitchen on the back right of the house. Home is virtually original, with door knobs, light fixtures, etc dating back to 1908.

Home was recently purchased from the daughter of the original owner. Two sheds out back are in usable and reparable condition. The bigger shed has been completely remodeled and is a terrific storage and work shop now. Big yard with lots of trees. And the town is such a classic little Mayberry. It has one blinking light.... not even a stop light.

Sixty thousand acre Kerr Lake and delightful Clarksville VA and Oxford NC are only ten or fifteen minutes away, north and south. This is a great home... !!!! Don't ask us to sell it !!!!
